Russell and Barbara Ahlgren and their child Chris at Maine’s Nubble Lighthouse in the late 1980’s examine the supply box that was used to transport supplies from the mainland to the lighthouse. A similar container once was once used at the site to transport the children of lighthouse keeper David Winchester the 200 feet across the water so they could catch the school bus on the mainland. When Ahlgren’s commanding officer found out about the practice he put an end to it. Russell Ahlgren was the last lighthouse keeper to serve at Nubble Light, which is now one of the most viewed and photographed lighthouses in the United States.
