The Plum Island Life Saving Coast Guard Station as it appeared in 1988. A few years later the Coast Guard stopped using the station and abandoned it. If a nonprofit group or a caretaker had been allowed to take care of it, the station would not be in the deplorable condition that it is today. Back to the edition of: August 2008
