Michael and Joni Martinek of Marshfield, MA recently returned from a trip to Greneda where they discovered this unique and strange looking lighthouse at the Greneda Airport.

Although they couldn’t find out much information from the locals they did learn that this primitive looking lighthouse once stood where the airport tower now stands. When the airport was built, the lighthouse, which was once an active aid to navigation, was saved and moved to its current location. Joni said that it was “heartwarming to know that even in Greneda someone thought about saving a lighthouse rather than tearing it down.”
