This photo was recently submitted to the Friends of Plum Island Light (also known as Newburyport Harbor Light) in Massachusetts. The photo shows a woman named Lelia Knight with a keeper at Plum Island Light in 1918.

According to the Friends’ records, the keeper in 1918 was Arthur Woods, but Keeper Woods’ grandson has said that the man in the photo is definitely not his grandfather. The Friends’ best guess is that the man was a temporary keeper.
