During 2003, Michigan’s Big Sable lighthouse will be open 7 days a week beginning May 1 and continuing until closing for the season on October 26. Daily hours will be from 10AM to 6PM.

Big Sable Lighthouse is located in Ludington State Park in Ludington, MI. A Michigan State Park motor vehicle permit is required to enter the park. To reach the lighthouses visitors must hike the trail that originates in the Pines Campground or walk north on the beach from the Ludington State Park Beach House. The round trip walking distance is approximately 3.5 miles.

However, on three dates, June 14, July 26 and September 20, bus transportation for $1.50 per person round trip is available.

Donations to climb the 130 steps to the top of the tower are $2.00 for adults and children 6-12 is $1.00.

The lighthouse has a gift shop which is located in the original 1867 keeper’s house where snacks are also available.
