This year’s Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival was one of change. A new venue kept some people guessing where things might be, but everyone enjoyed more space and brighter environment. Tim Harrison was the keynote speaker at the Keepers Dinner and got everyone to thinking what is the future of America’s lighthouses? Tim Harrison, President of the American Lighthouse Foundation, also awarded Lee Scherwitz, one of the Festival’s key volunteers with the Len Hadley Volunteerism Award. The Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival’s Next Generation of Lighthouse Keepers, which was setup in the Alpena Civic Center, raised over $10,000 from the children’s auction.
