In a change of command ceremony last July, Cdr. Jones was relieved as commander of Civil Engineering Unit Providence by Cdr. John Metcalf. Cdr. Jones was named the 2003 Coast Guard Engineer of the Year and, under his leadership, CEU Providence was selected for the Commandant's Quality Award Bronze Medal. Cdr. Jones and his family have lived at the Warwick Lighthouse for a couple of years and will remain there while he attends the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
