As part of the restoration, the historic lighthouse, which is one of the most photographed and visited lighthouses in the United States, the lantern room will be dry ice blasted to remove the old peeling paint. During restoration the process twenty-seven curved glass windows will be removed and resealed to stop leaking caused by the storms that batter the lighthouse that sits majestically at the top of a cliff. During the restoration the valuable Fresnel lens was boxed up to protect it.
