Don and Judy Fisher of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey are long time lighthouse enthusiasts, and as well as being subscribers to Lighthouse Digest, they have visited and photographed over 200 lighthouses in the United States and Canada. They and four other couples, who are close friends of theirs, have vacationed one week every year for many years in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
In preparation for a group birthday party to be celebrated during one of their recent Outer Banks trips, each couple made, in advance, party hats to be worn to the birthday celebration. Judy’s hat creations (pictured here while being worn by Don and Judy) were replicas of North Carolina’s Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Virginia’s Assateague Lighthouse, with battery operated beacons, and were judged the most creative of the group’s hats.
Judy says, “Over the years, visiting lighthouses has been one of the most enjoyable past-times we have enjoyed together and we wish more people would get involved in this most rewarding hobby.”
