The public has generously stepped forward to help save the Maine Lighthouse Museum from closing its doors after it recently ran into financial problems caused by the current economic conditions. Dot Black, the museum's director, said that most of the donations that came in from outside of Maine were a direct result of a story that appeared here in the pages of Lighthouse Digest. The donations along with a high attendance, in-kind donations and several concerts this past summer have helped, but the museum now faces the slow winter months and will continue to need help. If you can help, donations can be sent to Maine Lighthouse Museum, 1 Park Drive, Rockland, ME 04841. You can also visit their web site at www.MaiineLighthouseMuseum.org or call them at 207-594-3301.
