The Duluth Harbor South Breakwater Outer Lighthouse is a simple but elegant structure that looks inviting while giving a sense of security. It's even fairly easy to get to, a great spot to admire the view and let your mind drift back in time and wonder what it was like to be a lighthouse keeper here, especially with such a great view of the passing ships.

However, some mindless people, still find it necessary to ruin some of the beauty and desecrate a historic building that was built and maintained by our taxpayer dollars.

It may only take the morons a short time to put their graffiti on a structure, but could cost the taxpayers a lot of money to remove it. In this case, they had to also get fairly high up to do their vandalism and they could have fallen and injured themselves. If that had happened, it would have cost additional taxpayers money to get the EMTs out to the lighthouse to rescue them. However, we would have no problem spending taxpayer money to have these people arrested and receive the proper punishment and made to pay full restitution for their vandalism.
