The Next Generation of Lighthouse Keepers has been part of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival since it was founded in 1996. Every year, Pastor Jim Errickson, of the Immanuel Lutheran Youth Group, along with Boy Scouts and other children from as far away as Ohio, have participated in many ways with the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. We have helped vendors and lighthouse groups move in to the exhibit area and later move out and clean up. During the festival we have lots of fun with nautical face painting, helped with on-site projects and we have even sold our own lighthouse items. Plus we obtained many items for our own children’s auction to help raise money for lighthouses at the festival.

This year we, the Next Generation of Lighthouse Keepers, are working with the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival to create and start a scholarship fund for the schools that worked with the festival in the past years.

Please help us spread the word to get lighthouse enthusiasts from all over the country and Canada to attend the 15th Annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival on October 7-10 in Alpena, Michigan. Lots of our areas lighthouses will be open and the lighthouse center will be full of lighthouse displays and people selling all kinds of really cool lighthouse stuff. Please tell others to come and watch us kids in action and help us to save lighthouses. You can visit the web site at www.lighthousefestival.org.
