Canada’s 1883 Harbour Point Lighthouse, more commonly known as Sandy Point Lighthouse has been restored by the Canadian Coast Guard.
Located on Sandy Island at the entrance to St. George’s Harbour on the west coast of Newfoundland. it was the first lighthouse established on the west coast of Newfoundland.
Proving once again how harsh the elements can be on historic structures the tower had last been restored in 1989. Lighthouse Digest would like to locate photographs and memories of the lighthouse keepers who served here. If you can help, e-mail Editor@LighthouseDigest.com or mail to P.O. Box 250, East Machias, ME 04630.
