We received a large amount of mail about our story on Matchbook and Matchbox cover collecting that appeared in the last issue of Lighthouse Digest. Many people who never thought of taking their interest in lighthouses to this type of collecting have indicated they were going to start collecting them while others wanted to see more covers published.

Shown here are some of the set of 20 numbered Dutch lighthouse matchbox covers of actual lighthouses and lightships. Locating and collecting covers like this can lead you in many directions of research that will help you learn about lighthouses and cultures in other nations. We look forward to hearing what you have learned while researching matchbox covers that you might locate.

This story appeared in the Nov/Dec 2011 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
