New Business to Provide for Next Generation of Keepers

Comments?

Like most good ideas, Deanna King's started at a kitchen table. Some time ago she began checking into available employment in the lighthouse field. Although her search efforts resulted in a wealth of information in the lighthouse field, she quickly discovered that information on available positions is not easily obtained. While searching the web, she often crossed paths with others seeking the same information.

It became apparent that there was a need for a centralized data bank of information on the employment in the field of lighthouses. Deanna then recruited reinforcements and created a company which would provide this information to the public, at no cost to the lighthouse organizations. She began contacting various lighthouse organizations to ascertain their needs. From these original efforts, The National Listing for Lighthouse Employment (NLLE) was created.

NLLE, recently sent out a questionnaire to lighthouses (including maritime museums and life saving stations) for information on their employment needs. The response exceeded her expectations. Because of the positive response and based on the number of returned questionnaires, NLLE has stated they will make donations to various lighthouses on the endangered list. This is their way of thanking each organization for their time.

Due to the vast number of lighthouse groups around the country, Deanna says there may be a number of them who have not yet been contacted with a questionnaire. Those organizations can E-Mail them or write a letter and they will be sent the questionnaire with a return postage paid envelope. This form can also be obtained by visiting their web site at -http://members.aol.com/LHKeeper/Lighthouse.html.

Individuals interested in the services provided by NLLE can obtain information by contacting their consumer web site at -http://members.aol.com/LHKeeper/Welcome.html. They can also contact them by E-Mail at LHKeeper@aol.com or by writing to National Listing for Lighthouse Employment, P.O. Box 30858, Savannah, GA 31410-0858.
