This April 1932 press photo from the United States Lighthouse Service was simply titled, “Getting Ready for the Season.” Unfortunately the Lighthouse Service did not indicate where the photo was taken, but from its title we assume that it was taken somewhere on the Great Lakes as they were getting ready to install buoys after the winter ice was gone. The man in the bottom right corner of the photo is wearing a U.S. Lighthouse Service uniform indicating that he was probably an officer on a lighthouse tender.

This story appeared in the Sep/Oct 2014 edition of Lighthouse Digest Magazine. The print edition contains more stories than our internet edition, and each story generally contains more photographs - often many more - in the print edition.
