A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter from the Salem Air Station (Massachusetts) lowers a basket to a dory to air lift Coast Guardsman Charles Bailey, CSI, a crewman from the Nantucket Lightship on June 8, 1956 who had been stricken with an appendicitis attack. Because of the cable rigging on lightship the crewman could not be lifted off the lightship, so he was taken in a dory that anchored off the lightship which he was airlifted from. He was transported to the Brighton Marine Hospital.
