The world famous 1791 Happisburgh Lighthouse in Happisburgh, England was recently given a fresh coat of paint, something that needs to be done every ten years. The project took approximately two weeks to complete.
In 1990, the ownership of the lighthouse was transferred from Trinity House to the Happisburgh Lighthouse Trust. It is the only independently operated lighthouse in Great Britain.
The $26,500 restoration, which used close to 80 gallons of paint, was funded by admission fees and money raised by the Friends of Happisburgh Lighthouse. For more information, you can visit: www.Happisburgh.org.uk/lighthouse.
