Thanks to a $107,000 grant, the gigantic 1st order Fresnel lens in the Pensacola Lighthouse in Pensacola, Florida has been restored.
The restoration work was done by lampist Kurt Fosburg of Superior Lighthouse Restoration of Marquette, Michigan.
The lens restoration was the final step in a four year $3 million restoration project for the lighthouse. As we went to press, a special celebration was being planned for January 10-13 to honor the completed restoration and mark the 160th anniversary of lighthouse.
