USCG declares ten Michigan lights as surplus property

Comments?

The United States Coast Guard said it plans to relinquish ownership of 10 Michigan lighthouses.

The lighthouses are: Big Sable Point; Eagle Harbor; Grand Traverse; Manitou Island; Passage Island; Presque Isle; Point Betsie; Poverty Island; Thunder Bay; and White Fish Point.

The lighthouses will first be offered to other federal agencies, then to the State of Michigan and then to local communities and historical societies.
