The 1000 ton 76-foot-tall Ruberg Knude Lighthouse in Jutland, Denmark was recently moved on wheels 260 feet away from the North Sea’s eroding cliff 200 feet above sea level.
When the now defunct lighthouse was built in 1900, it was 660 feet from the coast. When it was moved, it was only 20 feet away. The move cost approximately three quarters of a million dollars.
After the move of the lighthouse, which is described as a national Danish treasure, was completed, it was lit up with a stunning display of lights.
