The 1917 Sylvan Beach Lighthouse in Verona Beach, New York is getting a much-needed makeover as part of the New York Power Authority and Canal Corporation’s five-year $300 million revitalization of the state’s iconic canal system.
The lighthouse never had lighthouse keepers live at the tower; however, the State of New York did hire lamplighters to tend to its aids to navigation.
