The Kallur Lighthouse on Kalsoy Island in the Faroe Islands almost made it into the latest James Bond movie, No Time to Die, which was reportedly filmed on part on the northwest side of island; however, no actors from the movie ever set foot there.
Although the dramatic conclusion of the movie takes place on the island, if you blinked or looked down to grab a handful of popcorn, you’d miss the spectacular aerial view of the island when it is shown in the film. The lighthouse sits approximately 700-feet above sea level, but because it is so short at 15-feet tall, it is hardly observable from any distance or from the air.
The Faroe Islands are comprised of 18 rocky volcanic islands between Iceland and Norway in the North Atlantic Ocean and are a self-governing archipelago that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Although Kalsoy Island has around only 100 residents, it is a popular destination for bird watchers and highly experienced hikers. However, because of the location of the lighthouse, very few are ever capable of completing the strenuous and somewhat dangerous hike to view the squat square tower.
