Jean Guichard, probably the world’s most famous lighthouse photographer, recently made a rare United States appearance at Lighthouse Depot in Wells, Maine.
Guichard, a resident of France, was visiting the United States to photograph Maine’s historic lighthouses. While at Lighthouse Depot, Guichard autographed a number of his famous “Wave” prints, which show a lighthouse keeper standing on the lower platform of the lighthouse, apparently unaware that a gigantic wave is about to engulf the structure.
Since the weather did not cooperate with Guichard on his U.S. Visit, he hopes to return to the United States later this year.
