Florida’s St. Joseph Point Lighthouse, which has been privately owned since the early 1960’s, may soon again have its lantern room.
The Coast Guard discontinued the lighthouse station, also referred to as St. Joseph’s Bay Light, in 1955 and its light was placed on a pole.
When the first owner of the station planned to move the structure the lantern room was dropped and reduced to rubble. It was never replaced on the lighthouse. The new owner of the station is in the process of bring the old lighthouse back to its original glory.
