Notes:
This lighthouse was built between 1981 and 1987 by Dr. Bruce Woolett. It has been recognized as an official aid to navigation marking dangerous Seal Ledge.

Height of Focal Plane: 44

Characteristic and Range: Flashing yellow (amber) every 2.5 seconds.

Description of Tower: White square wood tower on roof of a small wood building.

This light is operational

Date Established: 1987

Date Present Tower Built: 1981-1987

Optics: 1987: Electric marine lens; 1989: Fifth order Fresnel lens (originally from Doubling Point Range Lights).

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Open To Public? Grounds only.

Directions:
Visitors are welcome to visit the grounds near the lighthouse, but are not allowed inside without permission. To reach the lighthouse from ME 73: Between Thomaston and Rockland turn right on North Shore Drive ("Owls Head State Park" sign). Drive for 0.6 mile (past Ash Point Road on the right) and turn left at a sign marked "SHEARMANS LANE Prvt." Bear right at a "Y" into the driveway. As you enter the property there is a parking area to your right.
