The front range light is a skeleton tower.

Height of Focal Plane: 26

Characteristic and Range: Flashing red light.

Description of Tower: White, square pyramidal tower with red vertical stripe and red trim.

This light is operational

Date Established: 1885

Current Use: Active aid to navigation.

Open To Public? Grounds only.

Directions:
From Lady Slipper Drive in Alberton (Route 12), look for directions to Northport Harbour. Just past the harbour you will see the lighthouse. From Michel Forand: "From the park near the lighthouse, one can see in the distance (on an offshore island) the 1970 Cascumpeque light and the 1899 (second) light. The white tower and building on the right were built in 1899; the structure with red and white bands on the left is the new tower, dating from 1970. There is no regular transportation to the island."
