Sometimes vintage post cards offer the only known images of how some lighthouse stations once appeared, as does this image of Race Point Lighthouse, which was produced and distributed by Henry A. Dickerman & Son. This image, showing eight out buildings, not including the two keeper’s homes and tower, clearly shows just how large and important the Race Point Lighthouse once was. The image shows that there were two separate buildings that apparently housed steam-powered fog whistles, and the steam fog whistles are clearly visible sitting atop the towers that protruded from the roof of each structure.
