Walter Lambert Barnett, who was in command of the Diamond Shoals Lightship LV 71 under the United States Lighthouse Service, was born on October 28, 1871 and died on June 28, 1957. He is not to be confused with Walter Loren Barnett, who was born on August 21, 1876 and died on December 16, 1944, and who served with distinction in the U.S. Life Saving Service and the United States Coast Guard.
