Julia and lighthouse keeper Nolan M. Snipes with children Judy C. and Nolan M. Jr. This photo was taken in 1957 by Catherine Tocher Bittermann, a tourist from Suffern, New York, when she and her husband Joe visited West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in 1957. The letter enclosed with the photo that was sent to the Nolans from Mrs. Bittermann said, “We have not forgotten our most pleasant visit and your accommodating reception of us.
