Photo Caption:

The Killick Shoal Lighthouse is more commonly, but incorrectly, known as the Killock Shoal Lighthouse. It seems that a postcard manufacturer mistakenly named his post card of the light as Killock Shoal and for some reason the name stuck. If you look closely at this rare photo of the no longer standing lighthouse, you will notice that the shades in the lantern room were drawn to protect the lens from the harmful rays of the sun. Living quarters were cramped but comfortable at this well maintained station. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
