Photo Caption:

This wonderful portrait of Seaman John Hugo Peterson was taken in circa 1890. He served on one of the district lighthouse tenders for a period of time before he spent the rest of his working life as gillnetting at the Alderbrook Station in Astoria. Unfortunately, like so many of his crewmates, we have no idea on which lighthouse tender he was assigned nor the dates that he served. (Courtesy of Columbia River Maritime Museum)
