Debbie Allyn Jett had been searching from the gravesite of Captain Jerome G. Kiah for six years. She made countless searches on the Internet, old newspaper stories, and libraries and tromped through every single cemetery in Huron County. Finally, at about the same time this story was finished, the hard work paid off. She found that Capt. Kiah was buried in Los Angeles, California, an amazing 2,300 miles from the Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse and Life-Saving Station. Then with the help of Richard and Joyce Clayton the tombstone was located in the Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in the Los Angeles. At some point Debbie intends to fly to Los Angeles to place a U.S. Life-Saving Service marker at the gravesite.
