Galloo Island Lighthouse as it appeared in 2016. Gone are the days when Galloo Island was a well-maintained family light station. In recent years Galloo Island has been involved in a controversy of whether or not wind turbines should be built there. Because it is believed that the owners have not done any repairs, renovations, or restoration to the lighthouse, and because our requests to them about their future plans for the lighthouse have gone unanswered, we have added the lighthouse to the Lighthouse Digest Doomsday List of Endangered Lighthouses.
