The Thimble Shoal Lighthouse where Wesley Foster Ripley served as a lighthouse keeper from 1888 to 1904. In 1888, while on duty at the lighthouse, Wesley Foster’s 14-year old son, Tommie, passed away. The lighthouse shown here was destroyed by a fire in 1909 and replaced by the cast iron tower that stands there today. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
