This pre-1930 photo shows the Hilden family homestead on the hill above the Hudson River where the Esopus Meadows Lighthouse is located. Elsie and her husband John Hilden immigrated to America from Finland. At the time of Ellie’s marriage to Manny, there were several Finnish families living near each other along the banks of the Hudson on River Road.
