Baard H. Lervick at Tree Point Lighthouse, Alaska, circa 1920. Baard was born on December 20, 1917. He felt awkward around other kids when his family finally moved to town in Ketchikan in 1930. He wrote that he didn’t know how to throw a ball straight or play common games and felt 12 years behind other children in knowing how to play.
