Although the Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse was offered for free to any qualified entity, none of them wanted the responsibility. The lighthouse was sold at auction this past December for $30,000. What would the keepers of yesteryear, who dedicated their lives to the people of Manitowoc and the ships that traversed its waters, think about this if they were alive today?
