Born in 1855, Carl Wilhelm Leick joined the Lighthouse Service in 1887 at the age of 32. For the next 39 years, he served as an architect, construction supervisor, district superintendent and inspector. He retired in 1926 and passed away on June 10, 1939 at age 83. His ashes are interred along with his sister, Elise, at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Mausoleum in Oregon. (Courtesy of Joseph and Patricia Leick)
