The Roster Board at Heron Neck Lighthouse in 1978 lists the names and ranks of the Coast Guard keepers assigned at that time. They were listed as BM1 Scherer, MK3 Cody, SN Hartman, and FN Graham. The two Coast Guardsman who left shortly after Hartman arrived were MK2 Mohlar and FN Smart. This sign was displayed behind the winch on a wall where the boat house had stood until it was washed away in a Christmas 1977 storm. (Photograph by Heron Neck Coast Guard keeper Joseph Hartman.)
