Regarding the 1-4-3 “I love you” flash characteristic of the light, the 1902 Boston Globe article gave a different meaning: “Minot’s Light is distinctly a warning light. Its increasing signal 1-4-3 every half minute means ‘I am Minot’s light on Minot’s ledge – rocks on a lee shore in all the worst winds that blow – and it marks an ocean graveyard.’” (Lighthouse Digest archives)
