Photo Caption:

Richard and Laura Thompson in front of the Sand Point Lighthouse in Baraga, Michigan where he was the keeper from 1911 to 1922. The lighthouse is similar in appearance to a number of other lighthouses on the Great Lakes, such as the Sherwood Point Lighthouse in Wisconsin and the Little Traverse Lighthouse in Harbor Springs, Michigan. The Sand Point Lighthouse in Baraga is not to be confused with another lighthouse by the same name in Escanaba, Michigan.Today, the lighthouse is owned by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
