Photo Caption:

The crumbling and headless Farallon Island Lighthouse is now on the Lighthouse Digest Doomsday List of Endangered Lighthouses. Because the island is now part of the Farallon National Wildlife Refuge and is off-limits to the general public, it is highly doubtful that the tower will ever be restored. The Fresnel lens that was once used at Farallon Island Lighthouse is now in the possession of the San Francisco Maritime National Park Museum at Fisherman’s Wharf. (Lighthouse Digest archives)
