The 1854 Heron Neck Light Station on Maine’s Green Island where Ernie DeRaps was stationed as an assistant lighthouse keeper from 1959 to 1961. Because this was classified as a stag station, his family was not allowed to live there with him. While stationed here, he couldn’t make it to his father’s deathbed because he was stranded on the island. Back to the edition of: Sep/Oct 2023
