Tim Harrison, Editor of Lighthouse Digest was the featured speaker at the official release of the new quarter featuring Maine’s Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse. Harrison spoke on the history of Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and the significance of lighthouses in United States history. Harrison’s presentation generated several rounds of applause, the loudest being when he praised the contingent of Coast Guard personnel who were on hand at the ceremony. The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is still an active aid to navigation and is used for Coast Guard housing as a family station.
