Vintage image of the launch of a Bull Goose missile; date unknown. The Bull Goose was a decoy missile that could simulate a strategic bomber on an enemy’s radar. Liftoff was from the thrust of a solid-fueled rocket motor that would fall away once all of the propellant was exhausted and then a jet engine would take over and allow the Bull Goose to fly.
