Frederick Mikkelsen in his Coast Guard Boot Camp Photo in 1957. When the Skipper of the CG-64309 delivered Mikkelsen to the Conimicut Lighthouse, he asked him what kind of trouble he had gotten himself into as punishment to be sent to that kind of lighthouse. There was no electricity at the lighthouse and soon the 35mm IOV main light and hand-wound Gamewell bell striker, propane heaters, cistern, and the galley pump all became part of Mikkelsen’s life.
