Port Sanilac Light Station as it appears from the water. The white colored addition was added in the 1940s. The house was extensively renovated in the 1990s and features hardwood floors, a fireplace in the living room, a butler’s pantry, and three bedrooms. There is also a guest cottage near the lighthouse however it was not included in the sale and it will remain in the ownership of the Rosenfield family. The 4th order Fresnel lens is still in the tower, but the Coast Guard, which owns the light in the Port Sanilac Lighthouse, has announced plans to remove the lens from the lantern room and replace it with a modern optic. In 1888 the government built an exact replica of the Port Sanilac tower at the Ile Aux Galets Light Station, also known as Skillagalee Lighthouse, on an island near Cross Village in Lake Michigan.
