Aerial view of the Bodie Island Lighthouse in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Although repairs were made to the tower in 1997, they were only a stopgap. Today, the tower is in an extreme state of deterioration. This is the third tower to be built at this site. The second lighthouse was blown up during the Civil War.
