Photo Caption:

A lighthouse keeper’s work was never finished. Shown here at Wind Point Lighthouse on the left is assistant keeper Herman Erickson with head keeper Theodore “Ted” Grosskopf. Wind Point Lighthouse was the last station for distinguished veteran keeper Ted Grosskopf who, after being here for nine years, retired in 1954. He started his lighthouse keeper career in 1924 at Wisconsin’s Cana Island Lighthouse and then went on to serve at Lansing Shoal Lighthouse from 1929 to 1939 and then at Green Bay Crib Light where he served from 1939 to 1945 when he went to Wind Point Lighthouse.
